The theme is interior design, you are therefore invited inside the studios and workshops where what we decorate ourselves with takes shape.

You will be introduced to glassblower Alexander Kirkeby, who a few years after completing his education has established himself on the international design scene, to the also newly trained ceramist Heidi Lillevang, who is experimenting with stucco and to plasterer Peter Funder, who has 35 years of experience in the industry.

Architect Desislava Lynge states in the article "In community", "it can be magical to live both minimalistic and chaotic or with books and art from floor to ceiling, as long as the interior reflects the residents" she adds that if she has to point to something, it is the light incident the most important thing apart from the life in the houses.

Light is also the focal point for lighting designer Fie Paarup, who is very successful with her unique curtains sewn from vintage and surplus textiles. I have talked with her about both curtains and life in the house.

Textiles are also the natural choice of material for Sia Hurtigkarl and Tanja Kirst, in their own way, from each starting point and in completely different expressions, they are both interested in the woven carpet as a medium.

Bookazinet, while it is about rooms, furniture, curtains and carpets, stucco, ceramics and glass, has insisted on its own parallel track which is about how we form, socialize and talk about ourselves and each other and what we do . You are invited to Öland to a very special school. The school was established by Carl Malmsten and his wife Siv Malmsten in 1957. Ceramics, textiles, wood and horticulture are taught at the school now, as then, and to stay with Malmsten, I have had inspiring conversations with Professor Andreas Nobel. He is a cabinetmaker and designer and teaches at Sweden's finest cabinetmaking course at Malmstens in Stockholm (a campus under Linköping University).

Andreas Nobel argues: "You underestimate each subject area when you approach all fields in the same way rather than recognizing that it takes many years of training to master your subject. For example, it takes a lifetime of work to achieve a high level in philosophy. In the same way, it takes years of work to achieve a high level in craftsmanship, design or art”. He doubts whether in the same life one can achieve such a high enough level in both fields that the philosopher can add something to art and design and vice versa. Nevertheless, you see many academic subject groups speak out with an emphasis on both art, design and craftsmanship. "When you hear and read this kind of thing, you should know that it is not the academic matter the author is dealing with, but the philosophy", he argues. For the philosopher, art is a philosophical problem, for the artist, art is an opportunity. The designer and craftsman are looking for solutions”.

In addition to the above, you will meet ceramicist Louise Gaarmann, goldsmith Sarah Hurtigkarl and architect Erik Brandt Dam in the bookstore, among others.
